Lieutenant General Datuk Dr. William Stevenson (Retired) is the Chief Government Liaison Officer and Chief Executive of PETRA Diversified Systems and Technologies (DISTECH).

 

Prior to joining the PETRA Group, Lieutenant General Datuk Dr. William was Inspector General of the Malaysian Armed Forces and also Chief Executive of the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS). During the early part of his career, he was also involved in the counter insurgency and joint operations efforts at the Malaysia -Thailand border. He was also Chairman of the Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions (NADI) and member of Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP). As Chairman of NADI, he managed to bring together defence and security institutes from all ten ASEAN member countries to further dialogue and bilateral ties. After his retirement, he joined the Ministry of Finance (MOF), Malaysia as Senior Director of the National Strategy Unit.

Datuk Dr. William is also the President of the Malaysian Armed Forces Doctoral Association (MAFDA). He has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK and a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) from University Putra Malaysia. He has attended various programs overseas including the Senior Executive Program on International Security at Harvard University, USA.
