22 May 2023 - The first part of the Extra Regional Field Studies (ERFS) in Berlin, Germany, commenced with a visit to the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin.
The delegation was briefed by Her Excellency Dr Adina Kamarudin, the Malaysian Ambassador to Germany. The briefing focused on the core relationship between Malaysia and Germany. The ambassador outlined that there are three major pillars to the relationship between Malaysia and Germany; economic, political and environmental. The Economic relationship relates to the maintenance and growth of the trade relationship between two countries.
Malaysia is Germany's largest trading partner in the ASEAN bloc and both countries are keen to see this strong position maintained. The political relationship concerns the new strategic reality with geopolitic change due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The environmental or biodiversity relationship concerns Germany's deep interest in the Malaysian model of biodiversity preservation particularly in Sarawak. The visit was concluded with a group photo session.
