Nigerian Independence Day Celebration

The Commandant, staff and all course participants of MAFDC Serial 36/2016 together with Nigerian Armed Forces course participant Gp. Capt Shehu Usman Bakari celebrated the 56th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at Dewan Trisakti on 4 October 2016. The celebration started with the national anthem, Arise, O Compatriots and a country brief on the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The event was concluded with a cake cutting ceremony graced by the Commandant and Deputy Commandant together with Gp. Capt Shehu Usman. Later, all attendees were treated to the anniversary cake and lunch at Wisma Kancil. The Nigerian flag has been raised high since its independence from the United Kingdom in 1960. The state originated from British colonial rule beginning in the 19th century, and the merging of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and Northern Nigeria Protectorate in 1914.
