The Chief of Navy, Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Hj Ahmad Badaruddin delivered his Keynote Address to the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College Course Participants Serial 38/2018 on 14 May 18. The title of his presentation was The RMN: Strategy and Concept of Development – Turning Challenges into Opportunities. He spent two hours for the presentation including questions and answers session.

The Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC) Course of 38/2018 conducted Regional Field Study (RFS) to the Philippines from 23 to 27 April 2018. The delegation of 59 personnel comprises of the Commandant, Members of DS Council, Course Participants and Malaysia National University lecturers. The RFS in the Philippines starts with the visit to National Defence College of the Philippines (NDCP). The MAFDC Commandant pay a courtesy call to President of NDCP Rear Admiral Roberto Q Estioko Afp (Ret). There were five separates briefing were given during the visit to NDCP. The first briefing was on Information and NDCP Institutional Brief. This briefing was given by the Chief Academic Affairs Division of NDCP Mr Rostum J Bautista, who also a graduate of NDCP. The second briefing was on Curriculum Brief and courses offered in NDCP. The other three briefings from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Foreign Relation with ASEAN and Department of Foreign Affairs by Assistant Secretary Millicent Cruz-Parades from the Office of Asia and Pacific Affairs. MAFDC regional field study visit include local defence industry and The Arms Corporation of the Philippines (ARMSCOR) was chosen. The ARMSCOR Corporate Manager conducted the briefings and the delegation was also given the chances to conduct small arms firing using the small arms and ammunition produced by the ARMSCOR.

The Chief of Air Force, Gen Tan Sri Dato Sri Hj Affendi bin Buang RMAF delivered his Keynote Address to the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College Course Participants Serial 38/2018 on 4 May 18. The title of his presentation was The RMAF: Capabilities and Future Prospects. He spent two hours for the presentation including questions and answers session. This was the first keynote address that has been planned throughout the year.

Delegates from Kenya National Defence College have visited MAFDC on 16 Apr 18. The delegation consisted of 14 officers and Course Participants led by Brig Jen John Migui Waweru, Senior Directing Staff (Navy). The briefing was delivered by Lt Kol Hashim bin Osman, ADS Army and followed by a question and answers session.

MANILA, Philippines 27 Apr 18 -The Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC) Course of 38/2018 celebrated the 84th Anniversary of the Royal Malaysian Navy in Manila, Philippines. It was in conjunction with Regional Field Study Visit to Philippines from 23 to 27 April 2018 headed by the Commandant of MAFDC First Admiral Dato’ Sabri bin Zali. It was the first time MAFDC Navy Day Celebration held outside the College which took place in Berjaya Makati Hotel. The event was concluded with cake cutting ceremony by the Commandant with all members of DS Council and RMN Course Participants.

Delegates from Fiji led by His Excellency Honourable Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Fiji's Minister of Defence and National Security visited MAFDC on 18 Apr 18. The delegation comprised of 9 officers and was accompanied by 5 MAF and RMP officers. The purpose of the visit was in conjuction with the DSA and NATSEC 2018 exhibition and to meet with the MAFDC Course Participant Serial 38/2018 from Fiji.

The Commandant Lecture Series (CLS) for Malaysian Armed Force Defence College (MAFDC) Course Serial 38/2018 serves as a platform for exchange of information and interaction on strategic, security, defence, leadership and international relations issues with selected prominent individuals. On 9 April 2018, MAFDC was honoured to host the Denmark Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Jesper Vahr, as the guest speaker, accompanied by Mr Lars Asbjorn Zimmermann, the Commercial Assisstant. He talked on “Foreign Policy Option and Regional Security: The Importance of South East Asia to Denmark” and followed by a question and answers session.

The Commandant Lecture Series (CLS) for Malaysian Armed Force Defence College (MAFDC) Course Serial 38/2018 serves as a platform for exchange of information and interaction on strategic, security, defence, leadership and international relations issues with selected prominent individuals. On 28 March 2018, MAFDC was honoured to host the United Kingdom High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E Victoria Marguerite Treadell, as the guest speaker, accompanied by Col Stephen Hall, the United Kingdom’s Defence Attaché. She talked on “Foreign Policy Option and Regional Security: The Importance of South East Asia to Britain” and followed by a question and answers session.

On 14 March 2018, MAFDC was honoured to host the USA Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, as the guest speaker, accompanied by Capt Brent Sadler, the USA Defence Attaché. She talked on “Foreign Policy Option and Regional Security: The Importance of South East Asia to USA” and followed by a question and answers session.

The first Diners’ Club for MAFDC Course Serial 38/2018 was successfully held on 13 March 2018 at the Bangi-Putrajaya Hotel, Selangor. The guest speaker was Associate Professor Dr Farish Ahmad Noor, Coordinator of PhD Programme, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He presented a talk entitled “Balancing the Scale between US and China: The Effectiveness of Malaysia's Strategies” followed by questions and answers session. Among the invited guests who attended the event was ACOS Operation and Strategy, RMAF HQ. The Diners’ Club is part of the course program that enabled course participants to interact with prominent personalities on related topics such as security, economic or current national issues in line with regional and global perspectives.
