ICMM LOAC 2017

LOAC 1

Malaysian Armed Forces Health Services was successfully conducted ICMM LOAC started 24 until 28 July 2017 at MPC. This course was participated by 25 officers from MAF, two from National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM) and four international participants from China, Laos, Singapore and Kingdom of Thailand. The aim of this course was to analyse and discuss about current supporting humanitarian in UN mission especially in medical scope. The opening and closing ceremony was graced by Lt Gen Datuk (Dr) Haji Yaakop bin Koming, the Director of MAF Health Services.

MALBATT 850-5 LECTURES

MALBAT Class 1

MPC as an SME for the peacekeeping, collaborated with Joint Force Headquarters to organise lectures for officers and SNCO of MALBATT 850-5 before they are deployed to UNIFIL mission. These lectures were divided to two phases. For phase 1, the lectures were organised at MPC from 17 until 18 July 2017 for officers and SNCO. For phase 2, the lectures continued at MALBATT Village Hall for the contingent from 19 until 21 July 2017.

OFFICIAL VISIT FROM UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY (USMA) ON 27 JULY 2017

USMA 2 

MPC was receiving official visit from USMA on 27 July 2017. There were 12 personnel consisting of Head of USMA, Captain Jacob Absalon with four cadet officers, accompanied by two staff and five cadet officers from NDUM. The aim of this visit was to learn about the MPC’s organisation and it’s operational. The programmes arranged for this visit were group photo, briefing about MPC, MPC tour and lastly afternoon tea at Banquet Hall. This visit was also to promote MPC as an SME on peacekeeping subjects and also Malaysia in the eyes of the world.

UN CMCOORD E-COURSE

UN CM Coord 3

Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre in collaboration with United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) successfully conducted the Live United Nations Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CMCoord) e-course started from 17 until 21 July 2017. This course was divided into 2 phases as below:

 

a.     Phase 1 – Online e-course: Participants were required to take online UN-CMCoord e-course to complete Chapter I, II and IV.

b.     Phase 2 – Continued course at MPC. It involved discussions, case study and scenario based analysis and troubleshooting based on various emergency scenarios, challenges and dilemmas generated from actual experience.

 

32 participants participated in this course. They included 25 MAF, one Defence Service Force, one civilian from MinDef and five international from Brunei, Pakistan, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam. The facilitators for this course including four from UN OCHA and two from MPC. The opening and closing ceremony was successfully graced by Lt Col Jamaluddin bin Alias, Deputy Commandant of MPC.

OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE AMBASSADOR OF THE NETHERLANDS

Netherlands Visit 1

On 28 March 2017, MPC had the honoured to receive an official visit from Her Excellency Karin Mossenlechner, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kuala Lumpur. The aim of the visit was to get the overview on MPC operations and built collaboration and cooperation between MPC and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The visit started with briefing on the background and operations of MPC, followed by short tour around MPC’s facilities and compound. Her Excellency Karin also given the opportunity to visit the conduct of BLUE HAVEN Exercise for UN Military Expert on Mission (UNMEoM) Serial 4/2017 which was held at Kuala Klawang, Negeri Sembilan.
