MALAYSIA - AUSTRALIA WOMEN PEACE AND SECURITY SEMINAR

On 20 September 2018, a seminar entitled Malaysia - Australia Women, Peace and Security which was jointly organized by Malaysian Armed Forces and Australian Defence Force was held in Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre. The seminar involved 19 participants from Malaysia and 5 participants from Australia. The agenda of the seminar was to discuss the lesson learnt and experience by the Malaysian Medical Officers during humanitarian mission in Malaysia Field Hospital, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, while their Australian counterparts would impart their latest experiences on humanitarian mission in the Middle East. The Australian delegation was led by Wing Commander Kelley Stewart.

OFFICIAL VISIT BY DEPUTY COMMANDER OF JOINT LOGISTIC COMMAND UAE ARMED FORCES

Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre warmly received an official visit by Deputy Commander of Joint Logistic Command, United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, Brig Gen Staff Khaled Ali Mohamed Al Sumaiti. He was accompanied by two other officers, Col Saeed Fadhil Ali Al Zahli and Maj Engineer Khalid Ali Rashed Al Nuaimi. Upon their arrival, the UAE delegation was welcomed by MPC Commandant and officers, subsequently followed by a group photo session. The delegation was briefed about MPC organization by the Commandant, Col Padman Bhaskaran. After the briefing, the delegation was taken to a tour around MPC complex. The visit ended with a lunch session and the exchanging of mementos from both sides.

EX BLUE HAVEN UNMEOM COURSE SER 7/18

Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre successfully conducted Ex Blue Haven from 13 Oct to 18 Oct 2018 in the vicinity of Jasin, Melaka involving the participants of United Nations Military Expert On Mission (UNMEoM) Course Serial 7/18. Ex Blue Haven is a Field Training Exercise (FTX) conducted based on limited tactical situations in actual peacekeeping operations. The objectives of the ex are to provide an understanding on the principles, tasks and duties of a Military Observer (MILOB) in peacekeeping environment and to expose CPs with the challenges likely to be faced in a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.

A VISIT BY HER EXCELLENCY JULIA G. BENTLEY, HIGH COMMISSIONER, THE HIGH COMMISSION OF CANADA

On 18 July 2018, MPC had warmly welcomed a visit from Her Excellency Julia G. Bentley, High Commissioner, The High Commission of Canada. She was accompanied by Col Andrew Cleveland, Defence Advisor of Canada and his assistant, Maj David Robert Barr. Upon her arrival on 0900H, HE Julia G. Bentley was greeted by MPC Commandant, Col Padman Bhaskaran and MPC's officers. Among the visit's tentative were briefing by the Commandant, tour around MPC's facilities, brunch and exchanging of token of mementos from both sides.

24TH INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PEACEKEEPING TRAINING CENTRES

The International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) was founded in Canada in 1995. It is an open and voluntary association of centres, institutions, agencies and programmes dealing with peacekeeping operations research, education, and training. This year 24th IAPTC was held at Auckland, New Zealand starting 1st Oct until 5th Oct 2018. Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) was represented by Col Padman Bhaskaran, Commandant of MPC and Lt Cdr Mohd Firdaus bin Md Taib RMN, SO 2 Evaluation of MPC. The aim of the IAPTC was to facilitate communication and exchange of information and best practices between peace operations and other related education and training centres, and/or among people responsible for, and involved in, training for peace operations and related crisis situations. Conference opening was graced by Mr Ron Mark, Defence Minister of New Zealand on 1st Oct 18 and closing ceremony officiated by Maj Ge John Boswell, Chief of New Zealand Army on 4th Oct 18.
