21 December 2018 – Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces, Honorable General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Zainal Abidin completed the award ceremony of Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) to the armed forces veterans from Selangor and Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur at Dewan Perkasa, Armed Forces Mess, Jalan Padang Tembak.
In the ceremony, Chief of Defence Forces awarded the PJM to 155 veterans. The PJM is only awarded to military or former military personnel who meet the following qualification requirements:
a. Has been served or involved in continuous operation for 3 months and above or has been directly on duty in not less than 6 months in any units or Armed Forces formation for the period from 1 January 1969 to 2 December 1989 for operations against the Communist Party of Malaya (PKM ) or,
b. Has been served or involved in continuous operations for 3 months and above or has been indirectly on duty in not less than 6 months in any units or Armed Forces formation for the period of 1 January 1969 to 17 October 1990 for the operation against the Communist Party of North Kalimantan ( PKKU) or,
c. Got killed, injured or disabled due to the task of committing the Malayan Communist Malayan (PKM) for the period 1 January 1969 to 2 December 1989 or the Communist Party of North Borneo (PKKU) for the period 1 January 1969 to 17 October 1990.
Also present at the ceremony were Mej Jen Dato 'Dzulkarnain bin Ahmad, Director General of the Department of Veterans Affairs (JHEV ATM), Ministry of Defence's Senior Management Officer and Senior Officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
