Lieutenant General Dato’ Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan RMAF (371739) joined the Malaysian Armed Forces as an Officer Cadet on 18 July 1983 and was commissioned on the 10 July 1985 into the Royal Malaysian Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
His Flying career started in 1985 after graduating from the RMAF flying school in Alor Star. He was posted to fly fighters and had since flown numerous types of aircraft which includes the F - 5E Tigers, MIG 29 and Sukhoi 30 MKM. He was an instructor pilot on the F5’s and MIG’s and a Qualified Flying Instructor trained in CFS, Australia.
Throughout his service career he has held various appointments at unit and formation levels among others were SO 1 fighter operation at No 1 Air Division Headquarters, Commanding Officer of the MIG 29 and Sukhoi 30 Squadrons, Base Commander of Gong Kedak Air Base and Assistance Chief Of Staff, Operation & Strategy, Air Force Headquarters, Ministry Of Defence and also Assistant Chief Of Staff J3, Joint Force Headquarters. Before assuming his current appointment, he has served as Commander of Air Education and Training Command, RMAF.
He graduated from the Air War College (AWC), Pakistan in 2008 with a Master of Science in Strategic Studies and attended Royal College Of Defence Studies, London, UK in 2014. He has also successfully completed the 195th Session of the Advance Management Program from the Harvard Business School Boston, US in 2018 and also attended the Transnational Security Cooperation Course 18-2 from The Asia-Pacific Centre For Security Studies, Honolulu, Hawaii in 2018.
Lieutenant General Dato’ Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan is married to Datin Bibi NasratJahan binti Gulab Khan and blessed with 3 children; a son and two daughters.
