Lieutenant General Dato’ Abu Muslim bin Ismail is currently appointed as Chief Of Staff at Malaysian Armed Force Headquarters. He was born on 22th May 1959 in Penang. He joined the army on 7th of January 1978 and underwent his training at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, United Kingdom. He was commissioned on 3rd of August 1979 into the Royal Malay Regiment.
Throughout his career, Lieutenant General Dato' Abu Muslim bin Ismail has held various important appointments among which he was the Commanding Officer of an infantry battalion, Staff Officer Grade 1 Operation at the Division Headquarters and Staff Officer Grade 1 Training at Operation and Training Department at Army Headquarters, Principal Assistant Secretary at the Policy Division, Ministry of Defence. He was also the Commander of 6th Infantry Brigade and Assistant Chief of Staff of Human Resource Department at Army Headquarters.
During his 40 years involvement in the Malaysian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Dato' Abu Muslim bin Ismail has attended many courses and seminars locally and abroad. The last course he attended was the United States Army War College Class of 2012.
In recognition of his service to the country, Lieutenant General Dato' Abu Muslim bin Ismail was conferred with Chief Defence Forces (CDF) ‘Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri’ (DSPN) which carries the title ‘Dato'.
Lieutenant General Dato' Abu Muslim bin Ismail is married to Datin Faridah Hanim bte Ahmad and blessed with two sons and three daughters. During his free time he enjoys golfing and playing kites.
