SUBANG - 13 Jan 16. The MAF today records another additional aircraft to its inventory list. The RMAF received its second A400M aircraft at the Subang Air Base. The Defence Minister, YB Dato Hishamuddin Husein Onn took the center stage to receive the delivery. Present to witness the occasion were the Malaysian CDF, the 3 Service Chiefs and members of the MAF.
The new addition to the entire RMAF fleet will enhance its air defence capabilities, thus moving towards a dorminant air power and hence making a credible MAF. With the new inventory, a competitive and effective asset management, it will assist in improving a more independent air defence capability between our two regions of responsibility.
The delivery of the 2nd aircraft out of the 4 procured via the procurement contract signed in Dis 05. The aircraft departed Seville, Spain on 27 Dec 15 and touched down at the Subang Air Base on 29 Dec 15. 4 RMAF pilots and 4RMAF Quartermasters flew the A400M home.
The A400M aircraft will be deployed for Strategic and Tactical Airlift and will act as a Force Enhancement to carry out airlift operations . A number of RMAF personnel are undergoing training in phases since 2014 and the training for supporting elements has been planned for this year.
